Laminate is a floating floor. It is packaged in pieces and is snapped together. An expansion joint between the laminate and the wall is necessary as the laminate needs to expand and contract. Laminates can be installed over existing vinyl and ceramic. When going over ceramic, the grout lines will need to be filled in. A laminate foam is put on the floor first and then the laminate. The foam provides a film between the laminate and the existing floor so when walking across the laminate, you don’t hear it ticking against the floor underneath.
Laminate moldings are necessary to complete the installation. Whether you are joining laminate to carpet, vinyl, ceramic, or hardwood, there is a specific laminate molding for that need. All moldings match the laminate floor, so it makes the installation complete. We, at The Don Booth Company care about the smallest details.
